Happy Birthday Mom!!
This weird thing happens sometime between graduating high school and going out into the real world. Your mom stops being just someone that drives you to piano lessons, makes you dinner, and waits up for you at curfew. She starts being a woman that listens to you complain about your new working lifestyle, that gives you advice about your relationship, and that wants to try new restaurants together. You realize that she, while nearly perfect, also has worries and stress. She has rough patches with friends and sometimes just wants to go to bed and forget about life. She has been through the exact same experiences you have and knows just what to say to help you get by.
She becomes your best friend.
Happy Birthday Mom!
Thank you for always knowing what was best for me, even if I fought you til the end. You are my role model – the most selfless and hard working woman I know. I admire that you are devoted to a career you love, that you still volunteer your time to help others, that you some how manage to keep the house in order, that you make time to exercise and stay healthy, and that you still know how to have fun. As my card says, “I’ve always wanted to be just like you….just not so old!”
I love you!
