It’s in the Cheeks!

January 25, 2011

So totally crazy coincidence today. A girl I work with that supplies materials to the company finally made the connection that she used to BABYSIT for me! Small world, right? I think I was around 7 or 8 but she stayed at our house while my parents were out of town. She said of course she was skeptical about me being the same person when she recognized the name, but that my big cheeks are unmistakable:)

Yeah. I just put that on the internet.

And if you want another super adorable picture to look at, a baby black rhino was born at the St. Louis Zoo today! SO FREAKING CUTE!

*******************************************

Lunch today was leftover quinoa and black bean salad with acorn squash. I didn’t put the vinaigrette on it today though and it was just find without it! I think a light balsamic or sweet honey dressing might be better?

Plus an apple, of course!

And snack was sugar snap peas + hummus.

I had this minor freak out at work when I realized I’m out of green vegetables. (Such a lie – I have a tub of spinach, a few sugar snap peas, a little bit of frozen edamame, a thing if brussel sprouts, and a few frozen squash slices. But I planned on using that tonight and tomorrow so replenishment was necessary). I live on green vegetables and can’t make a meal without them, so I ran to the store on the way home to stock up! Now I have frozen broccoli, peas, and more edamame. Crisis averted.

And before dinner I tuned my harp. Because tuning is the first step to practicing…and that is going to happen. Soon. I promise.

For dinner I made myself a little tasting plate:

That would be parsnip fries and roasted brussel sprouts (coated with olive oil, pepper, and garlic and roasted at 400 degress for about 40 minutes), 4 slices of tempeh warmed in the oven for a few minutes, and the last of my frozen squash. And a big glob of natural ketchup for dipping. MMMM

Dessert was a handful of Kashi Go Lean cereal and a grapefruit. And now I’m deciding If I actually care about watching the State Of The Union or if I should get into bed and read. I feel like I need to, but it is so general and the same thing is said every year. Maybe I’ll watch part of it.

  • Any small world coincidences you’d like to share?
  • Do you have one distinguishable feature?

**ALSO – I found the wordpress plug-in that lets me respond to your comments ON the blog and it will automatically email you to let you know, but I don’t know how to install it. I’ve never done a plug-in. HELP!**

Um, I have a small world.

Two years ago, in walks one of my high school classmates with her SON for open house. I teach third grade. I sat next to her in keyboarding class when she was preggo with said student.

    So awkward.

I love coincidences like that – they’re so fun! My distinguishable feature would have to be my Polish Pudge, aka my nose hehe.

Haha my dad used to call me pumpkin (as did his sisters) when I was younger because I had the chubbiest cheeks!! They’ve since flattened out, though 😦 I kinda wish they were a little cheekier. You have gorgeous cheeks and such a warming smile!

    1) small world coincidences: I just found out that a girl who used to go to my college Bible study group is now dating a guy who went to high school with me, and they grew up in completely different cities! So weird.

    2) I’ve got chubby cheeks too! In fact, people have called me “chubby cheeks” before in the past : ) Must be from all my sugar consumption : )
